Hodgman to take on Education portfolio
Will Hodgman MP
Leader of the State Opposition
Saturday 13 February, 2010
With the dissolution of the House of Assembly and the retirement of Sue Napier, I will now take on the role of Liberal spokesman on Education for the duration of the election campaign.
Education is the key to the future our children and our state.
Education is something we simply can’t afford to experiment with, nor get wrong.
That’s why, following the retirement of Sue Napier, I’ve decided to personally take on the portfolio as Tasmanians decide whether they want four more years of unacceptable results and experiments from Labor, or the real change, the focus on results, that a Hodgman Liberal Government will provide.
Mr Bartlett says he wants this election to be a referendum on his failed Tasmania Tomorrow experiment – I say, bring it on!
Dr Vanessa Goodwin, MLC, will cover the shadow portfolios of Environment, Heritage and the Arts, Social Inclusion and Climate Change.
Dr Goodwin is well suited to take on these portfolios.
I will also be responsible for Veterans’ Affairs.
I pay warm tribute to my retiring parliamentary colleagues, Sue Napier and Michael Hodgman, who relinquish their shadow ministerial roles with the dissolution of the House.
